Vietnam Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Phan Thi Ngoc, accompanied by Tran Tuan Dung Minister Counselor / Deputy Chief of Mission of the Vietnam Embassy is ready to meet businessmen in Sri Lanka to share business opportunities between the countries. The session is scheduled to be held on Wednesday 26 September 2018, from 3.00 – 4.30 p.m at the National Chamber of Commerce (NCC) of Sri Lanka headquarters located at No. 450 D.R Wijewardene Mawatha Colombo 10. Participants will get an opportunity to have a close dialogue with the Ambassador and their officials in the promotion of business both in import and export potential. Some identified potential export products are; Food Preparations, Pepper, Textile Materials, Women Garments, Trousers for Men / Boys, Dyed Cotton Fabrics, Knitted / Crocheted Fabrics, Petroleum or Bituminous Minerals and Vulcanized Rubber. At present Sri Lanka exports following products to Vietnam. Parts of Footwear, mollusc, Bran, Knitted Crocheted Fabrics, Tea, Compounded Rubber etc, while the following products are imported from Vietnam. Telephone Sets, Natural Rubber, Portland Cement, Men’s Suits.
Vietnam is a leading exporter of rice and small grains to the world market with comparatively cheap labour in the region. High investment inflow with latest modern technology and natural resources in the country give a strong impact to the emerging new scenario of Vietnam. The trade volume between Sri Lanka and Vietnam amounted to USD 317.37 Million in 2015 increased to USD 380.75 Million in 2017 with a 20% increment.
The session is another event of ‘Meet the Ambassador’ programme conducted by the National Chamber. Earlier, the following heads of diplomatic missions have been participated. They were Ambassador of Indonesia Gusti Ngurah Ardiyasa, French Ambassador Jean-Martin Schuh, Pakistan High Commissioner Maj.Gen. Dr. Shahid Ahmad Heshmat and The Maldivian Ambassador Hussein Shareef.
