AsiaNews | Colombo | Sunday, September 30, 2018 | SLRA Press Release by Leonard Perera : International Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (ICCSL) introduced a Corporate Membership Card with privileges offered by Sri Lanka Retailers’ Association (SLRA) for the exclusive use of its members. SLRA partnered with its’ member merchant offers & discounts to launch the Corporate Membership Card issued by the (ICCSL). Members offering these discounts consists Bata, DSI, DI, Hameedia, Exclusive Lines, US Polo, Singer, Dankotuwa, Vogue Jewellers, Shirtworks, Vision Care and some others. These discounts will be ranging from 10-40% to the ICCSL membership privilege card.
The Sri Lanka Retailers’ Association (SLRA), was established to harness the resources of the Organized Retail industry to a common platform in order to promote growth, innovation and global outreach. SLRA currently represents 9 sectors in the retail industry namely FMCG; Clothing, Fashion & Jewelry; Shelter & Housing; Household & Consumer Durable; Footwear & Accessories; E-Commerce; Mobility; Entertainment and Healthcare & Wellness. It is a forum for Retail industry to work together, improve the status of the retail industry, reduce waste and improve efficiency, increase service standards, advance professionalism and to be the voice of retail industry in Sri Lanka towards “Achieving Retail Excellence”
Its objectives are; facilitating clear Policy on the Retail industry, be catalyst for budget proposals, develop the retail trade in line with the development changes of the country, bring in uniformity to standardization, create an image as a preferred industry for employment, developing the retail industry expertise in people, instill global best practices in the Retail Industry.
Inconsistency in policy, shortage of talent, the grey market, lack of consumer understanding for quality, inadequate quality infrastructure are the challenges the association is striving to overcome through its work process.
